Using Cascading Scales
I think we have Andres Segovia to thank for open strings finding their way into country tunes, licks and scales. They're found all throughout classical guitar repertoire. Since Andres Segovia was Chet Atkins guitar hero and someone he tried to emulate, they've made their way into contemporary guitar playing and have become a commonly used technique for jazz, country and finger style guitarists.
