One of my favorite things about country guitar playing is the history of imitating other instruments like pedal steel, lap steel, fiddle and banjo. This masterclass will focus on imitating banjo. When we imitate banjo we use a lot of hybrid picking, forward rolls, backwards rolls, open strings, triads and common picking patterns. There are some compromises and limitations to doing this though and that's fine.
We're in a different tuning and we don't have a high G string on the bottom so it's always going to be an approximation of banjo.
The point of imitating banjo is to access this popular sound, change the way we look at the neck and mix it into our bag of approaches and techniques.
